The March Career Speaking Tour is a pilot initiative between Westhill High School and the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF). Westhill and SPEF are collaborating to implement the March Career Speaking Tour which is designed to engage students in real world interactive conversations with career professionals. Career professionals will be visiting the Career Center starting March 3rd to discuss their professions, the various roads they journeyed to get to where they today, and to give advice and tips to our student body. Students will get a first hand look at the lives of professionals such as Animal Trainers, Food Truck Entrepreneurs, Nutritionists, Marketing Directors, Contractors, Plumbers, Auto Mechanics, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, Professional Sports Agents, plus many, many more! All presentations will be informative and allow for a Q & A session for the classes attending the presentations. See your guidance counselor for more information.

Splash at Yale is an event that brings local high school and middle school students to Yale University for one day of unlimited learning. Students who come take classes in a variety of both conventional and unconventional subjects taught by Yale undergraduate and graduate students! Our goal is to build excitement for teaching and learning from both sides. Students get to learn about things that they normally wouldn’t have access to, empowering them to find what they love to learn, discover new career opportunities, and become tomorrow’s leaders.

WHS Core Values

Westhill High School values learning because it promotes academic excellence, civic responsibility, and personal growth.  Our school encourages students to think creatively, work collaboratively, reason critically, and communicate effectively in order to be prepared for higher education and success in the 21st century.

Policy Reminders

The attendance policy has changed beginning with the 2016-17 school year.

After a student returns from any absence they are to report to Mr. Pereira's office (located in the 100s, across from Room 103) between 7:00 and 7:20am. Mr. Pereira will review their absence documentation (doctor’s note, etc.) and issue them a slip to present - with their note - to their teachers. Students must have each teacher sign the slip on the appropriate line, in order to document the rationale behind the absence. At the end of the day, the student is responsible for returning the slip (with all signatures) and documentation to a mailbox in the main office designated for this purpose.
NOTE: Absence documentation should come in the form of a note (parental, doctor, court summons - as examples) and as soon as possible upon the student's return to school. Phone calls and emails, while appreciated, will not count towards documentation.
Early Dismissal:

If there is a need for your child to leave school early, please send in a note (including a morning telephone number to confirm dismissal) with your child. They will be issued a yellow dismissal pass from class and you can meet your child in the office. Students should report to the main office before the warning bell for Block 1 to get the dismissal approved. We are hoping to greatly decrease the classroom interruptions that occur when we do not follow this procedure.

Passes Required for Late Bus

Students are not permitted to stay after school unless they are involved in an activity, tutoring or staying with a teacher for extra help.

Passes will be needed to board the 3:30pm buses.
