Norwalk Community College offers a unique program in collaboration with Gateway Community College.

NCC General Studies Associate Degree students are able to take automotive courses at Gateway's award-winning

transportation technologies program in New Haven. Students enrolling in this program can take all their academic

courses in Norwalk and fulfill requirements for a paid internship at an automotive service center in the local

SW CT area. During their two years at NCC, automotive students travel to Gateway two days a week,for 15 weeks.

The University of Alabama has announced two changes in their application process for the fall of 2009.

The writing component of standardized tests (ACT and SAT) will be required for use in reviewing students who may be "borderline" applicants. Also, paper application packets will no longer be printed. Applications will be available at

The Medical University of Gdansk, Poland offers high school graduates the opportunity to study medicine through integrated, competitive 6-year and 7-year MD programs for students fluent in English. Students do not need to take pre-med courses at a previous college, and the cost is considerably less than at US medical schools. Columbia University has recently announced extensive changes in its financial aid program. Beginning with the 08-09 school year, admitted students, who's families have incomes of less that $60,000 a year will no longer be expected to make any contribution to the cost of attendance at Columbia. Shaw University (an HBC) in Raleigh, NC has recently implemented a concentration in Emergency Management. The program was developed in response to a request by FEMA to develop a program focusing on hazards, disasters and emergency management. Rhode Island College has just announced a new academic major:

Cornell University's Urban and Regional Studies major (URS) is a unique social science major in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning that focuses on the real-world concerns of city governments, urban communities, and citizens. Clemens College was founded in 1992 as the Swiss Hospitality Institute, in Washington, Connecticut. In 1994, the institution was approved to confer collegiate programs at the associate degree level, and was renamed the International College of Hospitality Management, César Ritz. In 2003, under new ownership, the college was relocated to Suffield, Connecticut, on the grounds of the former St. Alphonsus College. Harvard University has announced that admissable students from families earning less than $60,000 per year will receive full tuition scholarships. The University has announced that it will provide decisions on applications for freshman admission between March 1 and April 1. Some candidates for the University Scholars Program may hear earlier, and those who appolied through Early Action will hear by the end of January.

 

 

 

Marquette University announces its Freshman Frontier Program for selected freshmen who show potential for success with academic support. Students who do not meet the initial regular admission requirements but show evidence of potential may be offered admission to the university through this program.
