SMITH COLLEGE will host its annual Women of Distinction program on November 12 - 14, 2010. Women of Distinction highlights opportunities at Smith for senior students who are of African, Latin, Asian, or Native American descent. Admission is competitive. Smith pays your transportation, meals, and accommodations. Deadline for receipt of application is September 24, 2010!

 

 

BATES COLLEGE (Lewiston, ME) is sponsoring "Prologue to Bates," their annual Fall Open House program for under-represented groups. The program is designed to acquaint prospective students and their parents or guardians with their academic and extracurricular offerings. Travel scholarships are available, and students chosen will have an interview with an admissions officer, attend classes, meet faculty, and spend time talking with enrolled students about their experience at bates. Deadline for the October 10-12 program is September 10, and deadline for the November 14-16 program is October 8. Please let Mrs. Levin by September 8 or October 6 if you are interested in participating.

The Tomas Rivera Policy Institue has published a book of scholarships designed specifically for Latino Students

(available in the Career Center) and the web site allows students and families to search for scholarships by type and documentation status without registering or paying a fee.

 

 

Looking for an "INROAD" to a successful career? INROADS is a program that helps business

and industry develop talented young people of color for professional careers. INROADS recruits outstanding

African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students. Its pre-college component prepares high school students for college. Then, INROADS places college students in two-to-five year paid internships with participating organizations and trains them for corporate and community leadership. You are eligible for this program if you have a minimum

2.5 GPA (3.0 is preferred), a combined SAT score of 900 or better (Critical Reading and Math), or rank within the top 10% of your class. The Fairfield-Westchester affiliate program is located right here in Stamford.
