We recommend starting with the procedure described below, setting up an on-line portfolio first. This ensures that your information will be saved. However, if you choose, you may explore the site as you wish.

 

CHOICES PLANNER

1.  Go to: Choices PLANNER

2.  Go to: Set up PORTFOLIO (follow the portfolio set up questions)

Your portfolio name should be your first initial and last name (but it can really be anything you choose)..

    1. Your password should be one you won’t easily forget.
    2. If you do forget, however, the password can be retrieved. (see Mrs. Levin)

3.  Go to YOUR ACTIVITIES and do the following:

    1. Interest Profiler – Find out the categories of your interests
    2. Work Values – What things are important to you in a work environment?
    3. Career Finder – What are the results of your searches? Refine the things that are important to you and explore different Careers.
    4. Career Plans – Make some tentative selections.
    5. Journal Entry – Add your personal notes at any time.
    6. Guideway Summary – What have you done, and what have you learned?
4.  Go to WORK tab (Grade 10)
    1. Basic Skills Survey – What skills do you already have?
    2. Workplace Skills Checklist – What can you do that will be important on the job?
    3. Transferable Skills Checklist – How do your skills compare with those required for various jobs?
    4. Resume Building – Build your resume from scratch. See sample resumes.
    5. Ability Profiler (password is start) – A real test of your Arithmetic Reasoning, Vocabulary, 3-Dimensional Space, Computation, Name Comparison, and Object Matching ability.

Six part timed test matches your abilities to Careers for which you are suited. Each test can be taken separately and takes between 20-30 minutes.
