VITAS is looking for volunteers who are able to share
their time with hospice patients living at home. Hospice
volunteers give their time to terminally ill patients and
their caregivers during a critical time. In orientation
classes, volunteers are trained in listening skills, family
dynamics and the right words to say to patients and their loved ones at the
end of life. Visits not only help each patient, but the families are touched
as well. Volunteers who choose not to be visitors may also find opportunities
in the administrative offices and in the planning of group activities with
local facilities. To find out more about how you can help, pick up a packet
on the balcony in the Career Center, or e-mail Rose.cirillo@vitas.com.

Score Choice™ Is Now Available. Beginning with the
March 2009 SAT, students have the option of which dates
they want to report to colleges (of course, colleges have
the last say in what they want to see). For information
about the "how-to's," click here.
However, there is a caveat:
Don’t think that Score Choice is going to make your life easier.
Most top ranking schools will still ask you to submit all SAT scores.
Eric Furda, University of Pennsylvania’s dean of admissions, warns
students that the program will not necessarily make high schools
students’ lives easier. Implementation of any new policy/change takes time.
You should expect resistance from top universities for at least next
two to three years.
And...A number of colleges are moving toward making the submission of
SAT scores optional. The growing list for fall 2009 applications includes:
Fairfield University, Bates College, Bowdoin College, College of the Holy
Cross, Dickinson College, Mount Holyoke college, Providence College,
Sarah Lawrence College, Smith College, Stoehill College, Wake Forest
University, and Wheaton College.
