Northstar Playmakers has 2 major goals in mind:

1. To provide an opportunity for those interested in in acting, dancing, singing, publicity, writing, producing, comedy, drama, juggling, or anything that has to do with being either in front of the stage or behind the scenes to get together and share thier love of theater!!

• We run many fund raisers and other events to benefit both our members and the members of our community, including the annual Candy Sale,  and the school-wide Talent Show. We also have various other activities such as a movie night (We jsut watched Waiting for Guffman, a classic!

• We encourage all of our members to participate in these events -- as a matter of fact, it is required of all our members to participate in at least one fundraiser each year.

• We are part of the national Theater Honors Society called the Thespians; each activity you are involved in as a performer, a techie, or a committee member can get you Thespian Points. When you have enough, you gain the privilege of being a member of the Thespian Troupe # 5046!

2. To assist in the production of the shows, hence the name PLAYMAKERS. This includes helping out with all the behind the scenes work such as publicity, concessions, house and box office management, etc.

• We are CLOSELY connected to the Tech Crew which is an intricate part of the production of a play. You CAN be members of both clubs!!

• Each club member is encouraged to join a committee so that they can utilize their specific talents and maybe learn some new ones! The current Northstar committees are:

• Incentives (T-shirts, etc)                                   
• Field Trips (to local Stamford and Broadway shows!!)                                                             
• Talent Show  (our main fundraiser)                               
• Fundraising   (Candy Sales, car washes, etc. )                                                                           
• Shorts (end of the year scenes)                                                                        
• Publicity   (for the fall drama, WIT, the spring musical, etc.)
• Thespian                                  
• Web site  
• Internship
• Concession/House/Box office                  

Besides participating in fundraiser's, the only other mandatory stipulations for being a member is (a) that each member must participate in at least one of our shows each year, in any area at all (i.e.: acting, singing, dancing, or tech); and (b) that no member may miss more than one meeting per month. Our attendance policy is very reasonable. We have our meetings every other Thursday that we have a full day of school, and sometimes, when the need arises, we have committee meetings to help get our shows together.
