Advanced Placement Exams Schedule for 2010
TEST PREPARATION and AFTER THE TEST
Norwalk High School Marching Band is sponsoring a Princeton Review practice SAT on January 9, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Students should arrive before 7:45 a.m. The practice exam is geared toward Juniors, Sophomores, and motivated Freshmen. It will be administered by The Princeton Review under full testing conditions, but the scores will only be reported to the students. This gives students the information they need regarding their strengths and weaknesses without the scores being
published. The cost is only $25, checks payable to Norwalk MBI. For more information, e-mail Mary Hanna at:
firstname.lastname@example.org. A flyer with more information can be downloaded at: www.nhsband.com/html/downloads.html

Score Choice™ Is Now Available.
Beginning with theMarch 2009 SAT, students have the option of which dates they want to report to colleges (of course, colleges have the last say in what they want to see). For information about the "how-to's,"
click here. However, there is a caveat:
Don’t think that Score Choice is going to make your life easier. Most top ranking schools will still ask you to submit all SAT scores. Eric Furda, University of Pennsylvania’s dean of admissions, warns students that the program will not necessarily make high schools students’ lives easier. Implementation of any new policy/change takes time. You should expect resistance from top universities for at least next two to three years.
Most college admissions officers tell us that their data processing of applications automatically picks the highest scores to show. So if you have a combination of good scores on different dates, you shouldn't worry about submitting them all!
A number of colleges are moving toward making the submission of SAT scores optional. The growing list for fall 2009 includes:
Fairfield University, Bates College, Bowdoin College, College of the Holy Cross, Dickinson College, Mount Holyoke College, Providence College, Saint Lawrence University, Sarah Lawrence College, Smith College, Stonehill College, Wake Forest University, and Wheaton College.
