There are a lot of great events happening this weekend to celebrate and honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Attached is a blue flyer with a variety of events listed that are happening each day.  Below is a recap of what is on the flyer.


Saturday, January 14, 2023 there are two events

EVENT #1: Movie: "Making Black America: Through the Grapevine" from 12:30-2:00PM

A 4-part series that will be shown on the following Saturdays from 12:30-2:00PM

  • Episode 2:  1/21/2023
  • Episode 3:  1/28/2023
  • Episode 4:  2/04/2023

EVENT #2: MLK Community Day & Junior Knicks Basketball Clinic from 11:00-12:30PM Sponsored by PM Pediatrics Care. Please use this URL to sign children up for the basketball clinic: Jr. Knicks Clinic with Hoops 4 All, presented by PM Pediatrics (


In addition to basketball, please come and enjoy, music, pop-up shops, poets, dancers, and speakers.

This event will take place at Rippowam Middle School located at 381 High Ridge Road, Stamford.

Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 3:00PM – 5:00PM

A city-wide special celebration to honor Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Junior

This event is free and we are asking people to please preregister on Eventbrite via this URL:


This event will take place at University of Connecticut, Stamford located at 1 University Place, Stamford.


We have secured space for 300 participants and hope that you, your friends and family will be present. We are confident that this celebratory event will demonstrate the value of coming together for the common good.  Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream of a more just and equitable society, let us do our best to transform his dream into our vision.  


Monday, January 16, 2023 from 3:00PM – 5:00PM

Rally, March and Eat

The Rally begins at 10:00AM at Bethel AME Church located at 150 Fairfield Ave, Stamford. Immediately following the rally, the march will begin at 11:00AM from the same location.  Directly after the march, lunch will be provided at the Boys & Girls Club / Yerwood Center located at 90 Fairfield Ave., Stamford.

This event is hosted by the Stamford MLK Committee.- no registration required
