In December, students who had earned an AGR were notified of their status. At that time, those students were given the opportunity to sign an AGR contract. By signing the contract, students agreed not to accumulate more than two unexcused absences moving forward. Students who met the expectations outlined in the contract will have their grade restored.

For students who were initially identified as being at risk of earning an AGR but have since exceeded the attendance limit, you will be notified of your AGR status in the coming days. These students will also have the opportunity to restore their grade by signing an AGR contract and completing the required expectations.

Please remember that regular attendance is essential to academic success. Being present and on time each day helps ensure that you stay on track and eligible for grade recovery when applicable. I also want to help clarify attendance expectations, below is a brief overview of what qualifies as an excused versus unexcused absence.

✅ Excused Absences

Absences may be excused with proper documentation submitted within 10 school days for the following reasons:

  • Student illness (parent note or medical note required starting with the 10th absence)

  • Religious holidays

  • Mental health wellness days (up to 2 per year, not consecutive)

  • Death in the family or emergencies

  • Court-mandated appointments

  • School-related activities (field trips, athletics, meetings)

  • College visits

❌ Unexcused Absences

Absences are considered unexcused if:

  • Documentation is not submitted within 10 school days

  • No hand written signature on the note

  • The reason does not meet excused criteria

  • The absence is due to a family vacation

  • Leaving school without notifying the school
